Frans Timmermans, letter addressed to premier Viorica Dancila on the issue of OUG regarding the action for annulment
The First Vice- president of the European Commission Frans Timmermans sent on 24 January a letter to premier Viorica Dancila in connection to a possible emergency ordance which would introduce action for annulment. He expressed his worry and required clarifications with regards to these matters.
‘The First Vice-president Frans Timmermans expressed his concern and required clarifications with regard to certain matters in a letter addressed to the prime minister sent on 24 January’ stated one of the spokespersons of the European Commission.
According to him, the European Commission follows’ closely’ the discussion from Romania with regard to a certain emergency ordnance regarding the extraordinary appeals for criminal causes following the recent decisions of the Constitutioinal Court.
‘The Commission took into consideration the first decision – the five judges panel ( 8 November) – in its latest report in the Mechanism for Cooperation and Verification (MCV). I remind you that president Juncker was clear in the issue of a possible amnesty during the recent visit to Bucharest.As the Commission has repeated several times, it is essential that Romania goes back to the right road in its fight against corruption, to ensure independent justice and avoid any steps backwards’ said the spokesperson of the European Commission.
