Gas export to the Republic of Moldova will be a political decision
Gas export to the Republic of Moldova will be a political decision, stated on Tuesday the minister of economy Constantin Nita in a conference entitled ‘ The biggest players in the economy’ organised by Ziarul Financiar.
‘Some things must be decided politically. We would like to use gas in petrochemistry but we have to think of the Republic of Moldova. They are ours, we have to help them as well’, Nita stated.
The minister said that Romania is for the moment a closed market and does not export gas.
On the other hand, Romania imports a part of the necessary gas from Gazprom, as the domestic production does not cover consumption.
Romania and the Republic of Moldova build a gas pipeline between Iasi and Ungheni. The pipeline would be used for gas export to Kishinev, but it is not finalised yet, although premier Victor Ponta stated last year it would be ready before 2014.
