The spot price of gold exceeded on Thursday the level of 2,200 dollars per ounce, when the US Federak Reserve announced there were prospects for more interest rate drops this year, which suggests that Fed ifficials are alarmed by the recent inflation advance.
Since mid February to the present day, the gold quotation went up by almost 12%, on the background of expectations referring to a more relaxed American monetary policy, an environment which usually leads to the depreciation of the US dollar but generates higher interest in gold as a refuge value, especially in the context of higher geopolitical risks. Lower interest rates from Fed are favorable to gold, which does not bring income to investors but makes other investments less attractive.
