Government exempts construction firms from payment of social contributions for next 10 years

The government announced on Tuesday fiscal measures in the field of public investments for 2019. One of them is exempting construction companies from payment of social contributions in the next 10 years, over January 1, 2019 - December 31, 2028.

Employees who are exempted from the payment of CASS will benefit from medical care in that period of time. Moreover the social security contribution will be reduced by 3.75% for persons who receive salaries for activities in the construction sector.

In November, FPSC representatives (Patrons’ Federation of Construction Companies) warned that the present crisis in the construction field might push economy in recession. They asked the government to grant subsidies and fiscal facilities in order to grant higher salaries to construction workers and stop them from leaving to other countries and a minimum salary of 500 euro and overall taxes of 20% from 45% at present.
