Households' bank deposits in leu decreased by 0.2 percent in September

National Bank of Romania (BNR, the central bank) has centralized data showing that the households' bank deposits in the national currency leu decreased by 0.2 percent to 81.184 billion lei in September compared to August, while the deposits in foreign currencies grew 0.5 percent to more than 50.153 billion lei equivalent. 

The year-on-year evolution in September was 4.9 percent up (3.3 percent in real terms) for the deposits in lei, and 2.2 percent up in foreign currency, as lei equivalent; as euros equivalent, the households' deposits advanced 3.3 percent. 

The deposits in lei of corporate non-banking, non- monetary customers advanced 1.8 percent from August to September, to 59.519 billion lei. The year-on-year (September 30 2013 - September 30 2014) growth of these deposits was 10.1 percent (8.5 percent in real terms). 

The foreign currency deposits of residents (households and non-banking, non-monetary corporate customers) in lei equivalent advanced 0.6 percent from August, to 75.84 billion lei; in euros equivalent, the trend was 0.6 percent up, to 17.192 billion euros. 

Compared to September 2013, the residents' foreign currency deposits grew 2.6 percent in lei, or 3.7 percent in euros. 

The corporate non-banking, non-government customers' deposits in foreign currencies advanced 3.4 percent in lei equivalent and 4.6 percent in euros equivalent. 

The deposits of resident non-government customers went up 0.6 percent to 216.544 billion lei in September, compared to August.
