Inflation goes down to 1.88pct, in September


Consumer prices fell by 0.6 percent in September 2013 compared to the previous month, while the annual rate of inflation (the last 12 months) fell to 1.88 percent, according to data published on Thursday by the National Institute of Statistics / INS /.

The annual rate of inflation in August 2013 was 3.67 percent.

The overall average price increase over the past 12 months (October 2012 - September 2013) from the previous 12 months (October 2011 - September 2012), based on CPI is 4.8 percent and determined on the Harmonized Index of Consumption Prices (HICP) is 4.1 percent.

The National Bank of Romania (BNR) has changed downward, to 3.1 percent, the inflation forecast for the end of this year. Previously, the central bank forecast for this year-end was 3.2 percent. The inflation target for this year-end is 2.5 percent plus / minus one percentage point.
