INSCOP: Freedom, the main gain of the Romanian society after 25 years of democracy
A large majority of Romanians (81.6 per cent) believe democracy to be the main gain of the Romanian society after 25 years of democracy that started with the December 1989 Revolution, according to findings of an Inscop Research poll conducted in September and released on Thursday.
The poll also reveals that 81.6 per cent of Romanians agree that after 25 years of democracy in Romania there is more freedom than before 1989, 13.9 per cent disagree with the idea and 4.6 offered non-answers.
The same poll shows that almost three thirds of the respondents (68 per cent) do not believe there is more justice than before 1989, and just 22.5 per cent of them believe there is more justice now than it was under Ceausescu's rule.
As many as 31.4 per cent of Romanians agree life in Romania is better now than before the 1989 Revolution, while 60.5 per cent disagree. As many as 36.5 per cent of Romanians believe people in Romania work more now than before, while 56.8 per cent of them believe the contrary.
The poll also shows that quite few Romanians (28.6 per cent) believe after 25 years of democracy justice is more independent from political influences, while more than half of them (53.5 per cent) disagree with the statements.
The 'Inscop - Adevarul on Romania' poll was conducted August 30 - September 4, 2014. The poll carries an error margin of ± 3 per cent for a 95-per-cent accuracy. It was conducted on a sample of 1,058 people using interview questionnaires.
