INSCOP Research: Kamala Harris would be a better friend of Romania - PNL, PSD, USR voters say
The democrat Kamala Harris would be ‘a better friend’ of Romania consider the PNL, PSD and USR voters while George Simion and AUR supporters prefer Donald Trump, according to the Libertatea- INSCOP barometer.
According to the survey, made between 11 and 18 October, the Romanians have divided opinions regarding who of the two candidates to the US Presidency, Kamala Harris or Donald Trump would be a better friend for Romania.
Asked who of the two candidates to the presidential elections in the US they think would be a better friend for Romania, 43.4% indicate Kamala Harris and 38.4% Donald Trump, 1.3% choose the variant’ both the same’ and 3.8% neither. 12% say they don’t know and 1.1% do not answer this question, according to the survey.
"I think that Democrat Kamala Harris would be a better friend of Romania in particular: the voters of PNL, PSD and USR, the highly educated, the inhabitants of Bucharest and the big urban centres. I think Donald Trump would be a better friend of Romania in particular: voters of George Simion and AUR, those under 30, private employees, TikTok and Instagram users," reads an INSCOP Research press release issued on Wednesday.
The INSCOP Research manager, Remus Stefureac considers that ‘ the Romanians’ divided opinions reflect both uncertainty and lack of knowledge with regard to the relation which the future president of the US would have with Romania’.
‘The results of the elections in the US could influence elections in our country, but the impact will be minor taking into consideration the balanced involvement of the Romanians in the competition in the US’ says Stefureac.
The opinion poll was conducted by INSCOP Research, a corporate member of ESOMAR, commissioned by the daily Libertatea. The data were collected between 11 and 18 October, the research method being questionnaire interviews (telephone interviews), on a simple, stratified sample of 1,106 people, representative of the significant socio-demographic categories (gender, age, occupation) for Romania's non-institutionalised population aged 18 and over. The maximum permissible error of the data is ¢ 2.95% at a 95% confidence level.
