INSCOP survey: President Klaus Iohannis tops the Romanians' approval of public figures

President Klaus Iohannis tops the Romanians' approval of public figures, with National Bank of Romania Governor Mugur Isarescu and Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos ranking next, shows an INSCOP pollsters survey released on Thursday. 

According to the poll, 59.8 percent of Romanians said they have much and very much confidence in Iohannis (up from 58.6 percent in September), while Isarescu got 40.4 percent (down from 41.6 percent in September). 

Ciolos, who took up as Prime Minister in November and is for the first time rated in INSCOP Research surveys, ranks third with 32.6 percent public approval. 

Senate Speaker Calin Popescu-Tariceanu enjoys the confidence of 21.4 percent of the respondents (up from 18.4 percent in September), former Prime Minister Victor Ponta ranks next with 20.2 percent as compared to 22.8 percent in September and Liberal (PNL) co-chair Alina Gorghiu has 18.6 percent (as against 16.8 percent in September). 

The survey called The Truth About Romania was commissioned by Adevarul daily and was conducted over Nov. 26 - Dec. 2 on a sample of 1,071 people; the maximum admitted error of the data is plus or minus 3 percent, with 95 percent reliability.
