Investments worth 10m euros in recycling industry
For the first time in Romania's recycling industry, GreenWEEE International Buzau (south) gave green light to the biggest recycling plant of electrical and electronic scrap in Romania.
The investment, inaugurated on Tuesday, April 28, amounts to 10 million euros and consisted in the acquisition of the land, the construction of the plant and its equipping with state-of-the-art equipment from Germany, Sweden and Taiwan. The group of investors is made up of company Romcarbon Buzau (72 percent), two Swiss investment funds (18 percent) and one private investor (10 percent).
'GreenWEEE can ensure the recycling of 50,000 tonnes of electrical and electronic equipment a year, which is three times more than the amount collected in Romania in 2008. The equipment we are operating with guarantees the safety of the recycling process from the outlook of pollution. GreenWEEE brings to the local market a new model of business through which scrap turns into secondary raw material and will be reintegrated into the production process,' said Marius Costache, general manager GreenWEEE International Buzau.
According to the aforementioned source, the inauguration moment marks at least two firsts in Romania's recycling industry: it is the first private project of such sizes on the local market and the biggest of South-East Europe.
GreenWEEE International Buzau is also the first unit which approaches the recycling process of the electrical scrap on the Romanian market.
The turnover estimates for the first year of functioning ranges between one and two million euros.
GreenWEEE International is part of the group of Companies Romcarbon, with the main office in Buzau and regional presence in 122 units. The group unfolds activities in the chemical industry and recycling industry and it has operational centers in Romania (Arad, Bucharest, Iasi, Corabia, Buzau), Ukraine (Odessa), Serbia (Novi Sad), Macedonia (Skopje) and Greece (Thessaloniki). At present, the group Romcarbon has over 2,000 employees. In Romania, besides GreenWEEE International, the group includes other two units in the recycling field - GreenTech, the first unit for PET gas cylinders and of containers and GreenFiber, production of polyester staple synthetic fibers and its own collecting network with 150 units nationwide. The turnover of the group's two units in Romania was of 85 million euros, Agerpres informs.
