Jeeny Polyxeni Bloomfield , Australian Ambassador in Romania, at the end of her mission in Romania

Minister of Foreign Affairs Titus Corlatean on Monday received Australian Ambassador in Romania, residing in Athens, Jeeny Polyxeni Bloomfield, at the end of her mission in Romania, in which context the two discussed on the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries.

According to MAE, the head of the Romanian diplomacy voiced his appreciation of the contribution brought by the Australian Ambassador to the current dynamics of relations between Romania and Australia. Minister Titus Corlatean thanked the Australian Ambassador for her firm engagement and efforts made during her tenure and wished her luck in her future missions.

MAE showed that both parties underlined the importance of maintaining an upward trend in the Romanian-Australian cooperation, through strengthening political, economic and cultural cooperation and diversifying the fields of common interest. Moreover, they appreciated as excellent the cooperation at regional level between Romania and Australia and also within the various international bodies.

The Ministry also mentioned that the two parties appreciated the special importance of the cultural exchanges, and in such fields as tourism, sports and education, for the mutual recognition and understanding, with a positive impact on the consolidation of the bilateral relations.

During the meeting the two officials also approached certain concrete aspects related to the mutual support of the two countries' candidacies in the international organisations and to the cooperation in the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons and nuclear security field, as well as other topics of interest on the international agenda.
