The Allied Joint Force Command (JFC) Naples, the NATO Response Force command and control headquarters for 2015, will for the first time base out to another location - the Shooting Range at Cincu, in central Romania, where more than one thousand troops are taking part in exercise TRIDENT JOUST 15 from Wednesday till June 28, National Defence Minister Mircea Dusa announced on Friday.

More than one thousand troops from 25 NATO countries participate alongside 200 Romanians in the live-fire exercise TRIDENT JOUST 15.

"The exercise is designed to test the abilities of Joint Force Command Naples to lead a collective defence operation for the Alliance," said Admiral Mark Ferguson, Commander of JFC Naples, when he announced the exercise in May.

TRIDENT JOUST 15 is also a part of a larger series of exercises referred to as ALLIED SHIELD. NATO exercises in this series are defensive in nature and are part of NATO's assurance measures. The activities will focus on enhancing interoperability, readiness and responsiveness among Allied and partner nations.

On the occasion of the exercise, Sibiu International Airport will see the arrival on Saturday of Boeing C-17 Globemaster III, the largest military transport aircraft having ever landed there.
