Lands' restitution criminal file: Andrei Hrebenciuc arrested by DNA prosecutors for complicity and money laundering
Andrei Hrebenciuc, Viorel Hrebenciuc’s son, was arrested by the National Anti-corruption Directorate (DNA) prosecutors on Thursday morning, in the forests and lands' restitution criminal file, at DNA Brasov where he was investigated for 5 hours. He was accused of complicity to traffic of influence and money laundering as well as for setting up a criminal group together with his father , Ioan Adam and Gheorghe Sturdza, for the illegal return of 43,000 ha of forests. Prosecutors from DNA Brasov issued an arrest warrant for 24 hours.
Andre Hrebenciuc is accused of setting up a criminal group as of 24 June 2013 together with his father Viorel Hrebenciuc, deputy Ioan Adam, PAltin Gheorghe Sturdza and Dan Costin Bengescu. The group wanted to obtain money from bribery, buying influence or the illegal use of influence, in order to speed up the property deed and the rapid sale of the forest of 43,227 ha obtain by court decision 231/R/2012 of Covasna Tribunal.

The High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ) on Friday morning decided 30-day preventive custody for Andrei Hrebenciuc, the son of social-democrat deputy Viorel Hrebenciuc, in the forests and lands' restitution criminal file.
Justice Minister Robert Cazanciuc said Thursday in Botosani he is convinced the anti-corruption actions increased public trust in the judiciary. 'That is an activity seen as remarkable both at home and abroad. DNA has contributed to increasing public trust in the judiciary of late,' he said.
The justice minister also said the actions of the DNA prosecutors are directly linked to the actions of law breakers. 'When there are breaches of the law and people do not understand there is a limit in everything, the DNA actions will surely continue,' added Cazanciuc.
