MAE condems the airstrikes launched in Gaza, aiming at civilian inhabited areas in Israel
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) follows closely the evolution of the situation in Israel and condemns the airstrikes launched from Gaza aiming at civilian areas in Israel.
‘MAE profoundly regrets the loss of lives among the civilians, as such events should be avoided at all costs. These evolutions have the potential of worsening the security in the region, with the avoidance of supplementary escalation of tensions. Sustainable peace in the region is an essential objective.In this way, Romania mentions its commitment to the values of international right and reiterates its support for the implementation of a solution by the two states, Israel and Palestine to coexist in peace and security as the only viable solution meant to answer the legitime aspirations of the parties’ a press release of the institution says.
At the same time, MAE says that, by order of minister Bogdan Aurescu, at the level of the institution, there was established a Task Force for the permanent monitorisation and evalution of the situation, as well as the identification of the main directions for action meant to support the Romanian citizens and their family members who are present in the area affected by the conflict.
Up to this moment, the diplomatic missions of Romania in TelAviv and Ramallah did not receive any request for consular assistance on the part of the Romanian citizens.
The ministry of foreign affairs keeps an eye on the evolutions in the field and is prepared to offer consular assistance in case of necessity. At the same time, MAE recommends the Romanian citizens in the region to pay attention and as a precaution to avoid the areas under emergency.
