Minister Sybiha calls on Romanian partners to consider possibility of shooting down drones near Romanian airspace
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said on Wednesday in Bucharest that he is calling on Romanian partners to analyse the possibility of shooting down Russian drones near our country's airspace.
He held a press conference alongside his Romanian counterpart, Luminita Odobescu.
The Ukrainian Foreign minister voiced his gratefulness for the "historic" decision of our country to donate a Patriot system to Ukraine.
"It is very important to strengthen Ukraine's defence. It is a shield not only for Ukraine, but also for Europe. Today we are defending not only Ukraine but also Europe. We have numerous cases of Russian missiles or drones violating the airspace of NATO states. That is why this system, especially as winter nears, will allow us to strengthen our defence capabilities. It defends our energy infrastructure and, as you can see, Russia's efforts are now aimed at preventing us from producing electricity," Andrii Sybiha said.
He emphasised that Russian missiles and drones "are passing or falling near Ukraine's atomic power stations and can be extremely dangerous".
"That is why I would like to ask our Romanian partners to analyse the possibility of shooting down Russian drones and missiles near Romanian airspace," the Ukrainian Foreign minister added.
