MODERATE GROWTH IN THE EVOLUTION OF THE ECONOMIC ACTIVITY IN THE PERIOD OCTOBER-DECEMBER 2017

  • Moderate growth of the activity and prices in industry and services ? Decrease in the activity and number of employees in constructions

  • Moderate increase in the number of employees in retail trade and services

The managers in industry, retail trade and services forecast a moderate increase in activity in October - December, while in construction there will be a decline, reads a press release from the National Institute of Statistics (INS) issued on Friday.

"In the October 2017 forecast survey, the managers in the processing industry forecast a moderate increase in output over the next three months (short-term balance +8pct). In terms of pharmaceutical products and pharmaceuticals a significant increase tendency is estimated (short-term balance of +50pct), while for the beverage industry there will be a downward trend (short-term balance of -24pct)," the INS release reads. 

Industrial output prices are expected to grow moderately over the next three months (short-term balance of +13pct). 
Regarding the number of employees, relative stability is estimated, with a short-term balance of +4pct per total processing industry. 

According to the estimates in October 2017, the construction activity will record in the next three months a decline in production volume (short-term balance of -24pct). Managers also estimate the decrease in the number of employees (short-term balance of -17pct). As for the prices of construction works, these are expected to increase (short- term balance of +16pct). 

In the retail sector, managers estimated moderate growth of economic activity (short-term balance of +7pct) in the next three months. The volume of orders placed by commercial units will see moderate rise (short-term balance of +7pct). Employers forecast in the next three months a moderate increase in the number of employees (short-term balance of +11pct) and in retail prices (short-term balance of +31pct). 

According to the estimates in October 2017, the demand for services (turnover) will grow moderately in the next three months (short-term balance of +13pct). A moderate increase in the number of employees is expected in the services sector (short-term balance of +9pct). According to the managers' opinion, the selling or billing prices for services will have a moderate rising trend (short-term balance of +7pct).
