More than half of the loans offered by the banks are concentrated in six counties

More than half of the loans offered by the banks in Romania for the population and companiesvare concentrated in the biggest six counties: Bucuresti (including Ilfov), Cluj, Timis, Constanta,Brasov and Iasi - at the other end being Giurgiu, Covasna, Mehedinti, Harghita and Caras-Severin.

According to Ziarul Financiar, the six counties had at the end of the month of July financing of 96.5 billion lei, representing more than half (56.5%) of the total of loans in national currency.The loans analysed are only those in national currency, as their share increased over the last years and surpassed 66% and the non-paying loans were not taken into consideration.The total of loans in lei offered by the banks to the population and to the companies is worth almost 171 billion lei.

Bucuresti (including Ilfov) is at the top of the counties with a balance of the financing offered to the population and the companies of 58.2 billion lei, representing almost 34% of the total value of the financing in lei offered by the banks in all counties of Romania.The loans offered in Bucharest have a share of over 60% of the total value of the loans offered in the counties in the top 6 of the best financed counties in Romania.

The Cluj county which is second as volume of the financing in lei offered by the banks to the population and to the companies, had at the end of July a balance of the loans of almost 9.5 billion lei, representing 5.6% of the value of the loans in lei offered in Romania.

Third comes Timis county, with a volume of the loans offered in lei of almost 8.3 billion lei, which represents over 4.8% of the total of the financing in lei offered by the banks on the local market.

The last three counties in the ranking with the highest balances of the loans in lei are Constanta with a balance of the loans of 7.4 billion lei, Brasov with loans of almost 7 billion lei and Iasi with a value of the loans of 6.1 billion lei.

On the other hand, from the analysis of the counties with the lowest volume of loans offered by the bankers there comes Giurgiu with a total value of the loans of 735 million lei, which represents only 0.4% of teh total of loans offered to the population and the companies. The next four counties with small volumes of the loans offered by the banks are Covasna with financing of 764 million lei, Mehedinti with 814 million lei, Harghita with 828 million lei and Caras-Severin with 850 million lei as financing offered by the banks.

Practically, it is observed that the financial system is concentrated in 6 counties which are urbanised and cumulate over 50% of the stock of loans at national level. Analysing loans at national level, both in lei and in euro, in the big 5 counties which have 24% of the population, there is noted that they gather 53% of the stock of retail loans and 59% of the stock of corporate loans as it is presented by Patria Bank.

More
