Mugur Isarescu approved by parliamentary committees for new tenure

BNR (Romanian National Bank) governor Mugur Isarescu on Monday received the approval of the specialty committees of the Senate and Deputies Chamber for a new tenure, while Florin Georgescu got the approval for a new tenure as First Deputy Governor. They both achieved unanimity.

The BNR Board of Directors is made up of nine members who are appointed by the Romanian Parliament for a 5-year term in office. The President of the Board of Directors is the same with the governor of the National Bank.

The current mandate of the BNR Board of Directors expires on October 10, 2014.

 

Olteanu and Voinea approved by joint committees of Parliament; Popa rejected

 

Bogdan Olteanu and Liviu Voinea on Monday were approved as Deputy Governors of the Romanian National Bank by the joint specialty committees of the Deputies Chamber and Senate, while Cristian Popa's candidacy was rejected.

Bogdan Olteanu achieved a unanimous approval, while Liviu Voinea received 30 votes in favour, three against and four abstentions.

Cristian Popa only got 6 votes in favour, 24 against and four abstentions.
