Net average wage down 3.1 pct this May to RON 1,682
The average gross nominal wage was RON 2,328, this May, by 2.8 pct lower than in the previous month, while the net average wage was by RON 53 less (-3.1 percent).
The highest average net nominal wage was registered in the sector of crude oil and natural gas extraction (RON 5,512), while the HoReCa industry is at the opposite end with RON 959.
The real wage index expressed as the ratio of the nominal net wage index to the consumer prices index was 96.6 pct in May 2014 compared to the previous month. Compared to October 1990, the real wage index was 124.9 pct, by 3.9 percentage points less from April 2014.
The activities to see the steepest decrease in the average net wage were financial services - by 20.7 percent less; and telecommunications, coal mining, financial intermediation ancillary activities, metal mining and sewerage (with the decrease varying between 10.0 pct and 17.5 pct).
The sectors to see the most significant increases in the net average wage are the extraction of crude and natural gas (+28.8 pct) and mining support services, the manufacturing of coke and crude processing products, tobacco products, land transports and transports via pipelines (with the rise varying between 4.0 and 8.5 pct).
In the public sector, there was a slight increase in the average net wage compared to April 2014 as follows: education (1.9 pct), health and social assistance (0.4 pct), public administration (0.2 pct).
