New General Manager at Saint-Gobain Glass Romania

As of mid-January 2012, Saint-Gobain Glass Romania underwent a leadership change as French national Jérôme Lionet was appointed General Manager of the Călăraşi - based glass producer.
“Saint-Gobain runs truly global operations and this is obvious in terms of management executives as well. Saint-Gobain Glass Romania’s first GM was French; he was replaced by my predecessor, who was Romanian, and now another French replaced him,” said Lionet.

Jérôme Lionet, 39 years old, has been educated in the fine tradition of the great French engineering schools, having first graduated Ecole Polytechnique, and then Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines from Paris. He has begun his career in an industry well-known for its rigor and requests for outstanding quality, military shipbuilding, but has then joined, more than 10 years ago, the Saint-Gobain Group.
The new Saint-Gobain Glass Romania GM spent the last eight years in emerging markets in the region, working for various Saint-Gobain companies and development projects. His various assignments within the Group took him from Poland to Russia and from the Middle East and North Africa to Turkey, Romania and other CE countries.

“I am glad to be here and assume the leadership of a company that is a flagship of Saint-Gobain in Central and Eastern Europe and is known for both growth and stability during difficult times. I am also looking forward to work with a team that earned within the Group a fine reputation for creativity and innovation.”
