New series of relaxation measures to be applied on Monday in Romania

A new series of relaxation measures will be applied as of Monday in Romania, among which the opening of malls, except for restaurants, cafes, playgrounds, game rooms and cinemas located inside, as well as the opening of outdoor swimming pools and gyms/fitness centres.

The National Committee for Emergency Situations adopted, on Thursday, a decision proposing to the Government the relaxation measures that apply from June 15.

The decision on the proposal of certain relaxation measures necessary in the current epidemiological context, applicable from June 15, specifies the increase to 6 of the number of people who do not live together and who can participate in recreational and sports activities carried out outdoors, namely cycling, hiking, running, canoeing, mountaineering, hunting, fishing and other recreational and sports activities carried out outdoors, under the conditions established by joint order of the Minister of Health, as the case may be, of the Minister of Youth and Sports, the Minister of Environment or the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development .

Private events indoors can be organized with the participation of a maximum of 20 people. Private events in open spaces can be organized with the participation of a maximum of 50 people, according to the decision of the National Committee for Emergency Situations. The number of people who do not belong to the same family and can travel or form pedestrian groups increases to 6.

The retail selling of products and services will be resumed in the shopping centres where several economic operators operate. However, the activity of restaurants, cafes or other such public places is not allowed inside the shopping centres, except for those arranged outside the buildings, in open-air, with a minimum distance of two meters between tables and at most 4 people who are not members of the same family at a table, as well as the operation of playgrounds, game rooms and cinemas.

The activity of the economic operators that manage outdoor swimming places, the outdoor swimming pools or the gyms / fitness centres is resumed, with the obligation to observe the prevention norms established by common order of the Minister of Youth and Sports and the Minister of Health.

The activities of nurseries, kindergartens and after-schools during the summer holidays are also allowed, under the conditions established by joint order of the Minister of Education and Research, the Minister of Health and the Minister of Labor. On Thursday, in the government meeting, Prime Minister Ludovic Orban announced that the extension of the state of alert after June 16 will be approved this week.
