Nicolas Cage received the Transylvania Trophy  of TIFF

The actor Nicolas Cage received on Saturday in Cluj-Napoca the ‘Transylvania’ Trophy of TIFF for Special Contribution brought to the World Cinematography occasion when he said that he liked the sound of these two words  ‘ Transylvania Trophy’ which he repeated several times.

The actor recalled that he filmed two movies in Romania, reason for which he accepted gladly to come back and said that he hopes to have the experience again .

According to Cage ‘ Face/Off’, the movie chosen by the organizers of the festival for Saturday night is one of the three preferred movies which he made.

In his turn, Tudor Giurgiu mentioned the fact that Nicolas Cage worked with many director who are part of the world cinematography such as Francis Ford Coppola, the Cohen brothers, David Luynch, John Woo, Brian de Palma, Martin Scorsese.

Winner of an Oscar and owner of several other trophies got at different film festivals in the world along a career of almost four decades, the actor, director and producer Nicolas Cage was the special guest of the 18th edition of TIFF.


The actor was offered the ‘Transylvania Trophy’ before the special running of the ‘Face/Off’ movie where together with John Travolta he plays the role of a psycho killer and the police officer who is on his tracks.

Launched in 1997, the movie was received with enthusiasm by the international critics for the wonderful  acting of the two stars in the main roles. Nicolas Cage as the terrorist and John Travolta as a FBI agent. The wonderful box-office in the whole world was followed by the nomination to Oscar for ‘ The best sound’ the TIFF organizers show.
