Orange code sizzling heat warning issued for 22 counties, including Bucharest till Sunday


The National Meteorology Administration (ANM) issued on Wednesday a Code Orange sizzling heat warning for 22 counties, including Bucharest, valid until Sunday.

According to the quoted source, the heat wave will hit the southern counties on Thursday, Aug. 23 and the western counties too in the following days, Aug. 24-26.

The maximum temperature will frequently get to 38-41 degrees Celsius in the Western Plain, the Romanian Plain and south-western Transylvania, even to 42 degrees Celsius in the Danube Flood Plain and the thermal discomfort will be severe.

Moreover, ANM issued a Code Yellow heat warning for the other Romanian counties in the above-mentioned interval.

The temperature highs will frequently range between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius in all the plain, hill and highlands regions, and the temperature-humidity index will go past the critical 80-unit threshold on wide areas
