Ordinance 119/2022 on energy, adopted by Deputies Chamber with modifications proposed by governing coalition

 The Chamber of Deputies adopted, on Wednesday, the draft approval of the Government Emergency Ordinance No. 119/2022 on energy, with the modifications proposed by the governing coalition included and a maximum electricity price of 1.3 lei /kWh for all consumers, regardless of consumption level.

There were 177 votes cast "in favour", 75 "against" and 11 abstentions when the draft was voted upon.

According to the PNL (National Liberal Party), PSD (Social Democratic Party) and UDMR (Democratic Union of Hungarians of Romania), the final billed price capped by electricity suppliers is 0.68 lei/kWh, maximum, including VAT, for consumption between September 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022 by household customers whose average monthly consumption at the place of consumption, in 2021, was between 0 and 100 KWh. Also, a maximum price of 0.68 lei/kWh, VAT included, will be charged for the consumption achieved between January 1, 2023 - March 31, 2025, for several categories of customers, including household customers whose monthly consumption is between 0 and 100 KWh, household customers who use devices, appliances or medical equipment necessary to carry out treatments or those who have at least three children up to the age of 18, respectively 26 years old, if following a form of education.

Also, the price will reach a maximum of 0.80 lei/kWh, including VAT, for consumption between September 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022, by household customers whose average monthly consumption at the place of consumption in 2021 was between 100.01 and 300 kWh for a monthly consumption of a maximum of 255 kWh. Also, a maximum price of 0.80 lei/kWh, including VAT, will be charged for consumption achieved between January 1, 2023 and March 31, 2025 for household customers whose monthly consumption at the place of consumption is between 100.01 and 255 kWh. Electricity consumption between 255 and 300 KWh/month is invoiced at the maximum price of 1.3 lei kWh, including VAT, and if the consumption exceeds 300 KWh/month, the entire consumption is invoiced at the maximum price of 1.3 lei/kWh.

The Chamber of Deputies is the decision-making body in this case.
