PM Ciuca, Jordanian AgriMin meet on Romanian exports of grain, livestock to Jordan

Prime Minister Nicolae Ciuca on Wednesday welcomed Jordanian Minister of Agriculture Khalid Al-Hanifat at the Government House to discuss developing agricultural trade, with emphasis on Romanian export of grain and livestock.

According to a Romanian government press statement, Ciuca presented Romania's ability to produce both grain and livestock for export to Jordan, thus contributing to strengthening food security in the Middle East.

Highlighted was the active role played by Romania amidst the effects generated by the Russian military aggression in Ukraine to facilitate the export of grain to the countries that depend on Ukrainian production.

At the same time, the Jordanian agriculture minister thanked Romania for its support and gave assurances regarding the delivery of fertilisers to Romania.
Both officials emphasised the importance of Romania's initiative to establish a sales hub in the port of Aqaba centre for Romanian products.

The consequences of Russia's war of aggression in Ukraine and the recent developments in the peace process in the Middle East were also looked at.

Ciuca welcomed Jordan's consistent position inside the United Nations Organisation condemning violations of the UN Charter and the founding principles of relations between states.

He also hailed the particularly important role of Jordan as the custodian of the Holy Places in Jerusalem and a contributor to the peace process in the Middle East, alongside Egypt.

He provided details about the support to the people affected by the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, as Romania was among the first to provide aid to the citizens of both countries.

Romanian Agriculture Minister Petre Daea also participated in the conversation, along with Jordanian ambassador in Bucharest Sufyan Al-Huneafat.
