PM Ponta met representatives of German companies doing business in Romania

At a meeting on Thursday with visiting Chairman of the German Council for Economic Relations with Eastern Europe Eckhard Cordes and representatives of German companies doing business in Romania, Prime Minister Victor Ponta reaffirmed the need to consolidate economic ties between Romania and Germany.

'The meeting was in continuation of Prime Minister Victor Ponta's efforts to encourage German investments in Romania, after this June, on an official visit to Germany at the invitation of Germany's Chancellor Angela Merkel, he had meetings with German business people interested in the business opportunities offered by Romania. On this occasion, he reiterated the need to consolidate the economic ties between Romania and Germany in order to create and secure jobs, as the presence of German companies in Romania has significantly contributed to the economic development of Romania,' the Press Office of the Romanian Government reports in a press release.
' Ponta also voiced conviction that the Government and investors can work together to improve the business environment in Romania.

'Chairman of the German Council for Economic Relations with Eastern Europe Eckhard Cordes mentioned that the last time Romania welcomed a German delegation so broad as the current one was back in 2007, hailing the Romanian Government's openness to cooperation, appreciating the efforts deployed to encourage the business environment.'

The visiting delegation of the German Council for Economic Relations with Eastern Europe included Mercedes Benz Romania CEO and Chairman Boris Billich; Billa Romania CEO Sorana Georgia; Rewe Romania SRL Managing Director and CFO Daniel Gross; Deutsche Telekom Vice-Chairman Joachim Hass; DKV EURO SERVICE GmbH + Co.
