PNL decides to submit censure motion

The MPs of the National Liberal Party (PNL - opposition) will submit a censure motion, announced the leader of the party, Ludovic Orban, on Monday.

"We made the decision to file a censure motion all the more the dismantling of the governing coalition and the withdrawal of a party from the ruling coalition are increasingly more likely. We decided to start the proceedings immediately (...) and mandated parliamentary groups [of the PNL] to start consultations with the leaders of the parliamentary groups in the Parliament, except for the PSD groups", Orban said at the end of a meeting of the PNL leadership.

The Alliance of Liberals and Democrats (ALDE), fresh from pulling out of the ruling coalition, will join the no-confidence vote against the government, ALDE national leader Calin Popescu-Tariceanu said Monday.

Asked at a news conference about what ALDE will do about the no-confidence vote announced by the opposition National Liberal Party (PNL), Tariceanu replied: "Quite simple, what an opposition party does. We will not vote for the government. The opposition party votes the motion of censure against the government, to be clear."

He mentioned having discussed with the PRO Romania leader, Victor Ponta, the establishment of a political alliance, but no decisions were made in that regard, as well as about the outline of a joint parliamentary group.
