Premier Sorin Grindeanu will meet Donald Tusk, EC president in Brussels on Friday
Premier Sorin Grindeanu will meet Donald Tusk, the president of the European Council in Brussels on Friday at 11.30.
The meeting is part of Donald Tusk’s and Junker’s official schedule at 11.30.
Talks came in the context of the scandal following the adoption of Government Emergency Order 13 by the Executive.
Premier Sorin Grindeanu sent a letter early this month, to Jean- Claude Juncker, the president of the European Commission and Frans Timmeemans, first vicepresident in which he said fighting corruption was one of the government’s priorities.
“In the end I would like to assure you of my opening to continue dialogues with you, while Romania continues fighting corruption. In these efforts we count on EC cupport, and on a balanced and correct evaluation, which should take into account the national constitutional frame and the concrete substance of legislative provisions, not only reactions in the public and media space,” Grindeanu told EU officials.
After the adoption of GEO (Governmental Emergency Ordinance) no. 13/2017, the president and vicepresident of the European Commission warned the Romanian government not to undermine the fight against corruption.
