Presidential election 2025/Flashdata poll: George Simion - 28%, Crin Antonescu - 26%, Nicusor Dan – 23%
If elections were held next Sunday, 28% of Romanians would vote for the national leader of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) George Simion; 26% would choose Crin Antonescu, backed by the Social Democratic Party (PSD), National Liberal Party (PNL) and the Hungarian Democratic Union of Romania (UDMR), and 23% would prefer independent candidate Nicusor Dan, according to a Flashdata national poll.
Next in the voters' options would be: independent candidate Victor Ponta (9%); national leader of the Save Romania Union (USR) Elena Lasconi (6%); Social Liberal Humanist Party (PUSL) candidate Lavinia Sandru (4.6%); independent candidate Daniel Funeriu (1.5%); National Conservative Party of Romania (PNCR) candidate Cristian Terhes (0.5%); National Action League Party (PLAN) candidate Silviu Predoiu (0.2%), independent candidate Sebastian Popescu (0.1%).
If Crin Antonescu and Nicuor Dan faced each other in the runoff, Antonescu would win, with 55%.
In a Nicusor Dan versus George Simion runoff, Dan would win with 58%.
Between Nicusor Dan and Victor Ponta, the voters would mostly opt for Dan, with 61% of the votes.
If Crin Antonescu and George Simion were to reach the runoff, the candidate supported by PSD, PNL and UDMR would win, with 61%.
At the same time, between Crin Antonescu and Victor Ponta, voters would choose Crin Antonescu, with 67% of the options.
If parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, 27% of Romanians would vote AUR, 18.5% PSD, 14% USR, 13% PNL, 4% Party of Young People (POT), 3.5% SOS Romania, and 3% UDMR.
In the hypothetical case in which Romania would be forced to opt for a foreign policy and defence alliance, 54% would opt for the European Union, and 35% would choose an alliance with the United States of America.
Also, 58% of respondents believe that Tik Tok offers more credible information than Facebook (42%).
As many as 61% of respondents believe that Romania is heading in the wrong direction, while 28% believe that our country is on the right track.
As many as 82% of the respondents say they would go to vote, and 11% categorically reject the idea of voting; 73% of them also say they are "totally decided" about the person they will vote for.
The poll was conducted between April 3-5, on a sample of 7,500 respondents, aged 18 and over, having a margin of error is +/- 3.5%, at a 95% confidence level. The questionnaire was online, with targeting by location, age, urban/rural. The sample was validated according to the voter turnout in the November 2024 presidential election, and the data are weighted according to the gender and age of the respondent.
