ProEtnica Intercultural Festival to kick off on August 28 in Mediaeval Fortress of Sighisoara
The 20th edition of the ProEtnica Intercultural Festival, which takes place between August 28 and September 1 in the Mediaeval Fortress of Sighisoara, will unfold under the high aegis of the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis.
On March 25, Iohannis granted his high aegis for three events scheduled this year: the International Meeting of the Saxons, which took place between August 2 and 4 in Sibiu; ProEtnica 2024, and the 31st edition of the Astra Film Festival, and Astra Film Junior, scheduled for October 20-27 in Sibiu.
The Sighisoara International Interethnic Centre for Youth, the organiser of the ProEtnica Sighisoara Festival, led by chairman of the Sighisoara Interethnic Educational Centre for Youth Association Volker Reiter, has announced that this year's ProEtnica Intercultural Festival will bring together representatives of Romania's 20 ethnic groups and thus represents an "agora of intercultural dialogue with unique value" in the country.
This year, the ProEtnica Intercultural Festival is funded by the Department for Interethnic Relations of the Romanian government, the Ministry of Culture and the German Embassy in Romania, being organised in collaboration with the Mures County Council, with support from the town of Sighisoara, the National Agency for Roma and the Romano-Kher National Centre for Culture.
