Prospects of bilateral Romanian-Georgian relations on agenda of Zgonea-Usupashvili meeting

Speaker of Romania's Chamber of Deputies Valeriu Zgonea on Monday had a meeting with visiting President of Georgia's Parliament David Usupashvili.

According to a press release of the Chamber of Deputies, Zgonea emphasised the significant progress made by Georgia at the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius and encouraged the continuation of efforts to fulfil the pledges on political association and economic integration with the European Union.

'We shall give Georgia the entire political and technical support it needs for meeting the criteria for joining the European Union. I trust the fact that Romania's experience of the pre-accession time will contribute to Georgia's being integrated with the great European family as quickly as possible. Georgia is a priority state in Romania's international policy of cooperation for development and our country's main trade partner in the South Caucasus. I want us, in the near future, through the agency of the parliamentary diplomacy, to organise the first Romania-Georgia economic forum,' said Zgonea.
