Romania Embassy's activity in Tripoli temporarily suspended

The activity of the Romanian Embassy in Tripoli has been temporarily suspended as a result of the aggravation of the situation in Libya, a release by the Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) informs.

'Given the worsening of the situation in Libya, based on the up-to-date information resulted after ceaseless monitoring at the level of the Crisis Cell with the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Romania the temporary suspension of the activity of the Romanian Embassy in Tripoli was decided and a relocation of the diplomatic, consular staff to Tunis for an unknown period', the said MAE release reads.

The Crisis Cell with the MAE acted in the preliminary stage of the Tripoli Embassy's relocation with a view to giving consular assistance and protection to the Romanian citizens in Libya, thus supporting 72 Romanian nationals' evacuation by August 8, 2014.

All the Romanian citizens who asked for support to leaving the Libyan territory were evacuated until now.
