Romania endorses economic coordination and fiscal consolidation in eurozone

Romania endorses the requirement that steps have to be taken to strengthen the economic coordination and the fiscal consolidation in the eurozone, reads the release the Ministry of Public Finance (MFP) sent to Agerpres on Tuesday.

FinMin Bogdan Alexandru Dragoi presented Romania's stance during the Economic and Financial Affairs Council (Ecofin) Congress, in Brussels on Feb 21.

The EU finance ministers discussed the results of the Eurogroup meeting on Feb 20, particularly regarding the agreed results of the Programme for Greece. Likewise the finance ministers of France and of Germany presented the proposal their countries made related to the green paper on the corporate taxation convergence between France and Germany.
'The Ecofin Council adopted the conclusions reached on the European semester 2012. In the context, we mention that we back up the emphasis put on securing the fiscal sustainability as a key element for the economic stability, taking into account that Romania has already implemented several reforms aimed at fulfilling the goal. There were presented the EU reference targets for G20 of the EU finance ministers and of the governors of the EU countries' central banks, due in Mexico, on this Feb 25 - 26. Afterwards, there were presented the Council's recommendations on the 2010 budget execution's discharge proceedings. Romania supported the draft recommendations and the text of the conclusions to be passed,' MFP release concluded.
