Romania, EU country where industrial output grew in August against July

Industrial output in EU and the euro zone grew in August 2024, compared to July 2024, and Romania is a member cuntry where industrial output grew from one month to the other, according to data released on Tuesday by Eurostat.

 

According to those data, in August, compared to July grew by1.8% in the euro zone and by 1.2% in EU. Romania is among member countries where industrial output grew by 1.2%. The biggest increases of industrial output were recorded in Ireland (4.5%), Germany and Lithuania (both with 3.3%) and Malta (2.7%).

 

In August 2024 against August 2023, industrial output grew by 0.1% in the eurozone and by 0.2% in EU. Romania is among member states with drops of annual industrial output, with a decline of 2.1%. However, the August drop is lower than 4% recorded in Romania in July 2024 compared to July 2023.

 

Data released previously by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) show that in Romania, at August 2024 level, industrial output dropped by 12.8% the previous month, because of the processing industry (-14.3%), production and supply of electric and thermal energy, gas, warn water and air conditioning (-7.8%) and extractive industry (-1.2%).

 

At the same time, there is a 1.1% increase of industrial output from one month to the other, due to activities in the processing industry (+1.7%). On the other hand, the production and supply of electric and thermal energy, gas, warm water and air conditioning, as well as the extractive industry dropped by 4.5% and 1.2% respectively.

 

Compared to August 2023, in August 2024, industria output dropped by 4.3%, on the background of reducing results in the production and supply of elecgric and thermal energy, gas, warm water and air conditioning (-5%), processing industry (-4.5%) and extractive industry (-0.4%).

 

As adjusted series, the decline of industrial output was 2%, an effect of drops recorded by the production and supply of electric and thermal energy, gas, warm water and air conditioning (-4.7%) and processing industry (-2%). In exchange, the extractive industry remained at the same level in August, 2024 compared to the same month of 2023.
