Romania extends humanitarian aid to earthquake-stricken Albania

Romania extended Albania, severely affected by a major earthquake on November 26, humanitarian aid consisting of tents, sleeping bags, cots, blankets, mattresses and bed sheets.

"Romania continues to provide humanitarian assistance to Albania, severely affected by the earthquake, getting actively involved in the international community's response to requests for support. At the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as a result of consultations with Albanian officials, the Romanian government will be sending humanitarian aid in the form of tents, sleeping bags, cots, blankets, mattresses and bed sheets," the Romanian government said Sunday in a press statement.

The aid was to be shipped on Sunday on two military aircraft. "Two aircraft of the Romanian Air Force will carry out a flight for the transport of the humanitarian aid offered by Romania, as well as for the relocation in the country of the RO-USAR team and of the intervention equipment of the General Emergency Inspectorate, which has carried out search-rescue missions in the area affected by the earthquake of November 26, 2019."

According to the source, the government expresses full availability in continuing Romania's humanitarian assistance to Albania. "The Romanian government is once again voicing full solidarity with the Albanian people, condolences to the families of the people who lost their lives in the earthquake, and speedy recovery to the injured people," according to the governmental statement.
