Romania promoted at Tel Aviv international travel event


Romania is featuring its touristic potential in the balneal, medical and business subsets at the 23rd International Mediterranean Tourism Market (IMTM) running February 7 - 8 in Tel Aviv, the Tourism Ministry said in a release

In the first day of the international exhibition, the Ministry of Tourism and Romania's Embassy in Israel are organizing a tourism presentation titled "Explore Romania! Explore the Carpathian Garden!"

"The purpose of the event is to showcase Romania's tourism potential to entice more Israelis choose our country as a holiday destination, or seek niche offers such as medical, balneal or business travel," reads the release. 
Secretary of State Cristina Ionela Tarteata will represent the ministry at the event.

Romania has this year one of the largest national stands at the IMTM, with an exhibition area of 100 sqm accommodating 24 Romanian travel companies, county councils and tourism industry associations.

"The Maramures County Council is Romania's partner region at the IMTM edition this year. Maramures artisan Daniel Les will hold pottery crafting presentation sessions for the visitors. The program also includes traditional folk music shows and tasting of Romanian wines," the ministry said.

According to data of the National Institute of Statistics, Israel is second in the ranking of countries that generate a tourist inflow to Romania.

Last year most foreign tourist arrivals to hospitality facilities were from Germany (281,700) followed by Israel (251,900), Italy (233,800), France (145,600) and the UK (140,600).
