Romania takes part in 64th Film Festival in Berlin

Romania takes part in the 64th Film festival in Berlin, which is held between February 6 and 16, with a programme including, among other things, the new film made by director Corneliu Porumboiu, 'The Second Game,' and a documentary devoted to writer Norman Manea.

In 'The Second Game,' which will be screened in the Forum section, Corneliu Porumboiu creates a film whose characters are the director himself and his father, former football international referee Adrian Porumbloiu. They give a running commentary on a match between the Dinamo and Steaua football teams, a game that was played in Bucharest in 1988.

'The Forest is Like the Mountains,' which is directed by Christiane Schmidt and Didier Guillain, will also be presented in the Forum section. It deals with things that happened in a Gypsy village near the city of Sfantu Gheorghe (central Romania).

Included in the same section, 'Le beau danger,' directed by Rene Frolke, is based on two texts by Romanian-born writer Norman Manea, who went to the US in the late 80s, containing scenes showing the writer, which were shot in Romania too.

The Romanian actress Cosmina Stratan will also be part of the Berlinale Shooting Star and actress Elena Andreea Vasile, director Adina Istrate, producer Gabriela Suciu and editor Alexandru Badelita will take part in the Berlinale Talents programme.

This year Romanians Ada Solomon, Corneliu Porumboiu and Razvan Radulescu will be some of the Berlinale Talents experts.
