Romania and Ukraine this April started carrying out a cross-border cooperation project worth 7.7 million euros. Most of the funds come from the European Union under the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument, Romania's National Customs Authority (ANV) reports in a press release.
The overall objective of the project is the development of cross-border cooperation between Romania and Ukraine through the development of the border infrastructure at the Halmeu-Dkjakove crossing point and improving cooperation between the authorities in charge with border management at political and executive levels.
The project called 'Safe and efficient borders between Romania and Ukraine' is conducted by ANV in partnership with Romania's National Roads and Motorways Corporation (CNADNR), Ukraine's State Customs Service, the Chop Customs Office of Ukraine and the Border Guard State Service Administration of Ukraine.
The project is to be carried through in 24 month, on a total budget of 7,6888,502 euros, 6,791,367 euros of which are EPI grants.
The 'Safe and efficient borders between Romania and Ukraine' project is part of the 2007-2013 ENPI Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine Joint Operational Programme funded by the EU under the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument, and co-funded by the participating countries.
