Seismologists revise magnitude of earthquake occured Monday afternoon in Buzau county to 5.4

 

Seismologists revised the magnitude of the earthquake that occurred Monday afternoon in Buzau County from 5.2 to 5.4 on Richter scale, according to information published by the National Research and Development Institute for Earth Physics (INCDFP).

Also, the depth at which the earthquake occurred was also revised to 127 kilometers.

The earthquake occurred near the following cities: 56 km northwest of Buzau, 58 km of Sfantu-Gheorghe, 59 km east of Brasov, 67 km west of Focsani and 69 km north of Ploiesti.

An earthquake with a greater magnitude than the one recorded on Monday occurred last year on February 14, in Gorj county, and had a magnitude of 5.7. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 6.3 kilometers.
