Cyber risks had a high level in 2018, being characterized by impact and probability values similar to those associated to the production of natural hazards, according to Cyberint Bulletin, published by SRI.

Top 10 malware campaigns in Romania in 2018 includes: Phish. URL, Backdoor. Adwind, Trojan.Pony, Trojan.Formbook, Ransomware. Downloader,Locky, Malware.Binary.exe, InfoStealer.LokiBot, Exploit_RTF_EQGEN_1, Malware.Binary.ace and InfoStealer.Fareit.

According to the source, cyber threats generated by entities with strategic motivation continue to represent one of the most important threats against Romania's cyber security, being targeted against IT&C infrastructures with critical values for national security.

The report  also points out that the mass development and implementation of new IT&C technologies, such as artificial intelligence, big data, internet of things or blockchain offer opportunities in developing standards at world level, creating instruments and mechanisms that facilitate the interaction between users and online environment.

The most significant 2018 challenges were cyber attacks against the financial-banking system, made  by cyber crime groups coming from the eastern area.

Contrary to estimates, ransomware campaigns were not predominant in the local cyber crime landscape, compared to 2017, when such attacks took place. Most likely, such actions are becoming fewer, but more complex.
