The Day of National Culture celebrated by the Philharmonic ‘ Enescu’, but without any public

Starting with 2010, the Day of National Culture is celebrated every year on 15th January when the birth of poet Mihai Eminescu is commemorated.

This year, the Romanian Academy celebrates the National Culture Day, in partnership with Philharmonic ‘ George Enescu’ under conditions imposed by the sanitary crisis, the event being recorded and broadcast later, during the same day, by Radio Romania Muzical, TVR 3 and Trinitas TV.

According to the press release of the Romanian Academy sent on Monday, the event will host the speech of the chairman of the Romanian Academy, acad.Ioan-Aurel Pop, the chairman of the Section Philology and Literature of the Romanian Academy and initiator of the National Culture Day, acad.Eugen Simion and acad.Razvan Theodorescu,vice-chairman of the Romanian Academy, the chairman of the Section Arts,Architecture and Audio-Visual.

The speeches will be followed by a concert organised by the Philharmonic ‘George Enescu’ under the baton of Horia Andreescu.

The programmed will include works by:Ludwig van Beethoven, the Egmont Ouverture;George Enescu ‘ Four Pieces for Violin and String Orchestras (soloist:Rafael Butaru);Doru Popovici, Codex Caioni; Constantin Silvestri ‘ Three pieces for string orchestras’ ;Bela Bartok ‘ Romanian Dances’ ;Dan Dediu ‘ Codex Brasoviensis.

‘Given the present conditions imposed by the sanitary crisis and the impossibility to invite the public in the elegant hall of the Athenaeum, the event will be recorded and broadcast on 15th January 2021 on Televiziunea Romana, on TVR 3, starting with 7:00 pm and Trinitas TV starting with 8:00 pm, Radio Romania Muzical will broadcast the concert on the same day at 3:50 pm’ the quoted source says.
