The German national radio station compares PSD to a mafia-like system

The German national radio station made a documentary about Romanian social-democrat party (PSD – at rule) saying that the party is ‘ a system similar to Mafia’. As an answer,  the minister for communications Alexandru Petrescu requires the journalists to be better informed saying the MAE (the ministry for foreign affairs) is too kind when speaking about such situations.

The document presented on the site deutschlandfunk.de says that the social-democrats have governed Romania for many years, country which at present holds the Presidency of the EU Council saying that the leader of the party Liviu Dragnea has a ‘circle of faithful followers’ who dominates the party. The German journalists bring into the discussion the institutional corruption saying that ‘PSD is a system similar to the Mafia’.

To do the documentary, the German journalist Norbert Mappes-Niediek was in Romania in Teleorman, Ciugud and Bucuresti where he discussed with the politicians and other Romanian journalists. Thus, the documentary speaks about the party which was seized by a circle of acquaintances of the PSD leaders, adding that Liviu Dragnea ‘ conducts the country policies and gives top positions’

The German journalist says that in reality PSD is the strongest party in Romania and the opposition exists ‘ only on paper’.
