The Government approved the National Public Procurement Strategy 2023-2027

The Government approved on Monday by decision the National Public Procurement Strategy 2023-2027, a public policy document that continues the reform of the national public procurement system.

According to an Executive statement, the implementation of the new strategy is a milestone under Component C14 - Good Governance of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) and demonstrates the Government's commitment to promoting effective and accountable procurement governance.

"The measures contained in the SNAP 2023-2027 are aligned with the European Commission's priorities in the field of public procurement. With the adoption of the new strategy, clear priorities and actions are set to continue the transition of public procurement from an administrative to a strategic function. The main objectives of the strategy include ensuring wider adoption of strategic public procurement, further professionalising procurement staff by setting high performance standards for procurement officials, increasing transparency of procurement, stimulating digital transformation of the procurement process, using green and social procurement, improving access of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to procurement markets and creating centralised procurement units (CPUs) at local level," the source said.

According to the press release, the Government, through the National Agency for Public Procurement, is firmly committed to implementing the strategy rigorously and constantly monitoring progress.
