The new Canadian ambassador to Romania, Kevin Hamilton, received by DefMin Motoc

 The armies of Romania and Canada have had an excellent collaboration in the past two years' joint drills, on Thursday said the Romanian National Defence Minister, Mihnea Motoc when welcoming the new Canadian ambassador to Romania, Kevin Hamilton, a National Defence Ministry (MApN)'s release reads. 

Minister Motoc appreciated the bilateral relations' high level and importance, emphasizing the current extremely complex security environment in the Southeastern region of the North-Atlantic Alliance. Likewise, he expressed his appreciation for the 'substantial' involvement of Canada in the implementation of the allied insurance and reinsurance measures on the national territory and at the Black Sea. 

"The sides evoked the good co-operation in allied format, stressing the need of a special accent on the deterrence and defense posture development of the NATO and in particular on the elements referring to the accomplishment of an adapted advanced presence in our country's region. In the context, the sides tackled the ways of political and practical support of the concrete initiatives of Romania in this field, with an emphasis on the multinational brigade, as well as of the developments in the maritime and air fields," the MApN release adds. 

Ambassador Hamilton said that during his Bucharest tenure, priority will be given to the bilateral co-operation in security and defence.
