Trade balance deficit up by almost half bln euro in Q1

  • In the period 1.I-30.VI 2018, the FOB exports amounted to 33976.9 million euro and the CIF imports amounted to 40281.9 million euro.

  • In the period 1.I-30.VI 2018, the exports increased by 10.0% and imports by 9.7%, compared to the period 1.I-30.VI 2017.

  • In the period 1.I-30.VI 2018, the FOB-CIF commercial deficit was of 6305.0 million euro, 483.3 million euro more than in the period 1.I-30.VI 2017.

  • In June 2018, the FOB exports amounted to 5884.2 million euro and the CIF imports amounted to 7186.8 million euro, a commercial deficit of 1302.6 million euro being registered.

  • Compared to June 2017, the exports increased by 16.2% and the imports increased by 11.7% in June 2018.

 Romania recorded a trade balance deficit of 6.305 billion lei in the first six months of the year, which means an increase of 483.3 million euros compared with the same period last year, according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) on Thursday.

According to the official data, in January 1 - June 30 2018, the FOB exports totalled 33.976 billion euros, up 10pct as compared to the first six months of 2017, with CIF imports exceeding 40.28 billion euros, up 9.7pct as compared to the reference period.

The product groups with a significant share of the country's trade were machinery and transport equipment (48.5pct for exports and 38pct for imports) and other manufactured products (32.6pct for exports and 30.7pct for imports).

Moreover, the value of intra-EU28 trade in goods posted for the first half of this year accounted for 26.075 billion euros in shipments and 30.286 billion in imports, representing 76.7pct of total exports and 75.2pct of total imports.

On the other hand, the extra-EU28 trade in goods accounted for 7.901 billion euros in exports and 9.995 billion euros in imports, the equivalent of 23.3pct of total exports and 24.8pct of total imports.

According to the INS, in June 2018 versus June 2017, FOB exports totalled 5.884 billion euros (+16.2pct), while CIF imports totalled 7.186 billion euros (+11.7pct).
