Videoconference between Romanian and French DefMin on bilateral cooperation, Ukraine

The minister of National Defense, Angel Tilvar, discussed on Tuesday, via videoconference, with his French counterpart, Sebastien Lecornu, about bilateral cooperation in the military field and the support that the two countries give to Ukraine in supporting defense efforts against the illegal aggression of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of National Defence (MApN) informs in a press release sent on Wednesday.

Minister Angel Tilvar reiterated Romania's solidarity with Ukraine and the importance of continuing international support for the neighboring state.

He also highlighted the efforts of our country to continuing the training of the Ukrainian military within the EUMAM UA missions of the European Union and INTERFLEX, led by the United Kingdom.

The Romanian official welcomed the recent signing, in Paris, by presidents Macron and Zelensky, of the framework agreement on security cooperation between France and Ukraine.

The two ministers of Defense also addressed, in the videoconference, aspects related to the level of bilateral Romanian-French military relations, as well as the cooperation in the allied framework and in that offered by the European Union.

In this context, according to the source, minister Angel Tilvar reiterated the importance of concrete examples of allied solidarity in the face of the challenges generated by the aggressive attitude of the Russian Federation in the Black Sea area, expressing also in this context appreciation for France's contribution to the consolidation of the eastern flank, by assuming leadership of the NATO battle group on the territory of Romania, deployed in central Cincu.
