Viet-nam wants to develop political and economic relations with Romania
Viet-nam wants to increase the commercial exchanges with Romania, the ambassador of the Republic of Viet-nam to Bucharest Tran Xuan Thuy said as he was on a visit of two days in Timisoara for discussions with the local authorities and the visit to industrial objectives. ‘ For the moment, I think the business people in Romania and Viet-nam have no sufficient information to refer to the economic situation of the two countries. That is why, we try to offer updated information about Viet-nam to the business people in Romania as well as about Romania to the business people in Viet-nam’ stated on Thursday Tran Xuan Thuy,in a conference supported at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture Timis.
The representatives of the Timis Chamber of Commerce support that the interest manifested by the Embassy of the Republic Viet-nam to develop the economic relations with Romania and to promote the Viet-namese investments in Romania results in the statistic data presented by the Commercial Service of the Embassy which indicates the fact that, in the last three years (from 2011 to 2013) the total figure of business regarding the commercial exchanges between Viet-nam and Romania was approximately of 100 million USD per year, out of which the exports to Romania was of about 75-80 million USD per year. The main products exported on the Romanian market are the electronic ones, frozen seafood, vegetables, footwear or clothes, while Viet-nam imported from Romania steel products, plastic products, chemical products and electronic equipments.
In the first seven months of 2014, the commercial exchanges between the two countries reached the value of 70 million USD which represents a growth of 20% against the same period of last year. The total value of Viet-nam exports to Romania is of 52.5 million USD and the expectations to the end of 2014 are to reach to the value of 125 million USD.
Romania has at present three investment projections in Viet-nam in the domain of oil and gas worth 2.1 million USD. There are no Vietnamese investments in Romania. Out of the information offered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs / department Asia-Pacific, Viet-nam is one of the main economic partners in Asia of Romania.
