Vietnam, Romania issue Joint Declaration

Vietnam and Romania have issued a Joint Declaration on the occasion of Romanian Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos’s official visit to Vietnam between July 11-14.

Romania's Prime Minister Dacian Ciolos and his Vietnamese counterpart Nguyen Xuan Phuc held official talks in Hanoi on Tuesday, hailing the conclusion of negotiations over a free trade agreement between the European Union and Vietnam.

The Romanian Government says in a press statement that the two officials showed that the coming into force of the agreement will provide an enlarged cooperation framework that will boost trade and investment.

In their conversation, the two prime ministers also discussed international and regional affairs of interest, especially cooperation between Asia and Europe ahead of the ASEM Summit to be hosted by Ulan Bator, Mongolia, July 15-16, to be attended by Dacian Ciolos and Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

On the side-line of Ciolos's visit to Vietnam, a Romanian-Vietnamese business forum was organised, with Ciolos delivering a speech in which he highlighted 'the existing substantive opportunities for cooperation and mutual investment.'

At the same time the chairs of the Romanian and Vietnamese chambers of commerce signed a cooperation protocol.

While in Hanoi, Ciolos also met Vietnam's President Tran Dai Quang and Secretary General Nguyen Phu Trang.
