Violinist Sarah Nemtanu and Polish conductor Jacek Rogala are set to open the 2024 Royal Season with an extraordinary concert at the Romanian Athenaeum, on November 3.

According to a press release sent on Monday, the opening of the 12th Royal Season, which became a traditional event in Bucharest, takes place under the auspices of the Romania-Poland Cultural Season 2024-2025, a bilateral programme aimed at strengthening cultural relations between the two countries and promoting artistic exchanges.

The concert will offer a unique opportunity to explore Polish music through the overture to the opera "Jadwiga, Queen of Poland" by Karol Kurpinski - for the first time programmed in Romania by the Royal Chamber, but also to rediscover masterpieces such as the "Violin Concerto" by Jean Sibelius, performed by French violinist of Romanian origin Sarah Nemtanu, and the well-known "Symphony VI in F major op.68 'Pastoral'" by Ludwig van Beethoven.

Over the years, the Royal Season presented exceptional concerts of the Royal Camerata with renowned conductors such as Horia Andreescu, Cristian Mandeal, Tito Ceccherini, Constantin Grigore, Sabin Pautza, Jin Wang, Kah Chun Wong, Tiberiu Soare or Leo Hussain, and also with great soloists such as violinists Shlomo Mintz, Alexandra Conunova, Remus Azoitei, Gabriel, Florin and Simina Crotioru, Alexandru Tomescu, Cristina Anghelescu, pianist Alexandra Dariescu, sopranos Nelly Miricioiu, Cellia Costea, Valentina Nafornita, Irina Iordachescu, mezzo-soprano Ruxandra Donose, tenors Teodor Ilincai, Florin Guzga.

The "Royal Season" is a series of concerts performed at the Romanian Athenaeum, under the High Patronage of His Royal Highness, Prince Radu.

The concert is organized with the support of the Romanian Ministry of Culture and the Adam Mickiewicz Institute in Poland, under the auspices of the Romania-Poland Cultural Season 2024-2025.
