Cars: Over 190,000 new and second hand cars registered in Romania in the first 4 months

The number of new and second hand cars registered in Romania in the first 4 months exceeded 190,000 units, of which 145,823 are in the second hand category, according to DRPCIV statistics.

Reported to the January-April 2018 period, car registrations dropped by 1.57% this year.

According to statistic data, the overall number of new car registrations was 44,527 units, on the rise by 22.76%, compared to the first 4 months of 2018 when there were 36,272 units.

Most new cars registered in the first 4 months of 2019, were Dacia (14,308 units), on the rise by 51.08% compared to the same period of 2018.

According to the number of new cars registered in April, most request went to Dacia cars- 2,239 units (+26.50% against April 2018), Renault (733 units, +40.69%), Volkswagen (697 units, -5.56%), Skoda (654 units, -12.68%) and Ford (560 units, -18.60%).

For used cars figures show a drop by 7.19%, to 145,823 units.

Most registrations in this category were for Volkswagen – 35,751 units (-10.52%, compared to the same period of 2018), Opel (13,505 units – 22.14%), BMW (14,572 units, -1.27%), Audi (13,825 units, - 5.11%) and Ford (12,172 units, -16.58%).

DPRCIV data, published by mid March, showed that the national car park in Romania had reached 8.20 million units at the end of 2018, on the rise by 7.30% against the previous year, when there were over 7.635 million units.

In this respect, 1,381,620 of the cars at national level were registered in Bucharest, 4.64% more than in 2017. At the same time, the number of cars registered by December 31, 2018 had reached 1.106 million units, most of them (610,765 units) running on gasoline.
